About Y2L...
OUR STORY...
Y2L (Young Leaders League) is a youth leadership initiative under the International Leadership Foundation (ILF), built to equip young people across Ghana, and ILF’s wider network in several African countries, with the character, skills, and opportunities they need to lead well in their schools, workplaces, and communities.
Y2L runs six core programmes. Each one targets a specific gap in how young people are usually prepared for adulthood: character and leadership formation, practical digital skills, entrepreneurial thinking, mentorship, and real-world facilitation experience. Donors funding any one of these programmes are funding a specific, trackable outcome in a young person’s life.

Our Programmes
Y2L runs six core programmes. Each one targets a specific gap in how young people are usually prepared for adulthood, so donors funding any one of them are funding a specific, trackable outcome in a young person's life.
Y2L Clubs
Y2L Clubs are ongoing, school- and community-based groups where young people meet regularly to build leadership habits over time, not just at a single event. Members work through structured modules on self-leadership, integrity, teamwork, and goal-setting, guided by trained facilitators.
Why it is strategic to a donor: leadership is a habit, not a one-day talk. Clubs give Y2L a steady, long-term touchpoint with the same young people across a school term or year, so growth can be tracked and sustained rather than left to a single seminar.
What your support typically covers: facilitator stipends, club starter kits (materials, workbooks), termly or annual club activities, and expansion into new schools or communities.
Scale today: 20 clubs are running with over 20,000 trained young leaders. | Member age range: 15 to 35. | Reach: over 15 schools/communities currently reached. | Curriculum: ILF's Leadership and Development Studies, levels 1 to 5.
Leadership Bootcamp
An intensive, short-term bootcamp that puts young people through focused leadership training: self-awareness, decision-making, public speaking, conflict resolution, and team leadership, delivered through practical exercises rather than lectures alone.
Why it is strategic to a donor: this is the fastest, most visible way to show impact. A bootcamp produces a clear before-and-after cohort, a graduation moment, and participants who can speak directly to what they learned, which donors and partners can see and hear.
What your support typically covers: venue and logistics, facilitator fees, training materials, meals for participants during the bootcamp, and certificates on completion.
Format: 3 to 5 days. | Audience: Junior and Senior High School, and Tertiary students. | Frequency: once per year.
IT Bootcamp
A practical, hands-on digital skills bootcamp covering core computing literacy and foundational tech skills, for example productivity software, internet research, basic digital tools, and an introduction to areas such as coding or data use, depending on the cohort's level.
Why it matters to a donor: digital skills are now a basic requirement for almost any job or further study. For many participants, this bootcamp is their first structured, hands-on exposure to a computer, closing a gap that directly limits their future income and opportunity.
What your support typically covers: computer or device access, internet connectivity for sessions, instructor fees, and course materials.
Curriculum/tools: AI and Robotics, delivered with partner organisations such as Mediator Ai Solutions. | Devices: participant-owned.
Entrepreneurship Bootcamp
A bootcamp focused on practical business thinking: idea generation, basic business planning, budgeting, marketing, and pitching, aimed at helping young people build income-generating skills rather than wait solely for formal employment.
Why it is strategic to a donor: in a job market that cannot absorb every graduate, this bootcamp gives young people a real alternative path, the ability to build something of their own. A strong closing pitch session also gives donors a concrete, fundable outcome: specific youth-led business ideas they can see and potentially back further.
What your support typically covers: facilitator and mentor fees, seed materials for practical exercises, and, where the programme includes it, small seed grants or starter capital for the strongest pitches.
Leadership and Development Studies (LADS) Facilitations
Structured facilitation sessions that bring Y2L's leadership and development content directly into schools, youth groups, and community gatherings, led by trained Y2L facilitators on request.
Why it matters to a donor: this is how Y2L scales beyond its own clubs and bootcamps, reaching young people wherever they already gather. Each facilitation extends Y2L's reach without requiring a new physical programme to be built from scratch.
What your support typically covers: facilitator transport and fees, session materials, and outreach to new schools or groups.
Youth Mentors Seminars
Seminars that train and equip mentors, often older youth, young professionals, or community leaders, to guide and support younger participants across Y2L's other programmes.
Why it matters to a donor: mentorship is what makes the other five programmes stick after the event ends. Funding this seminar multiplies impact, because each trained mentor goes on to support multiple young people over time, rather than Y2L needing to reach every participant directly.
What your support typically covers: mentor training materials, facilitator fees, seminar venue and logistics, and ongoing mentor support or check-in sessions.
Partner with Y2L
Donors can fund a specific programme above, sponsor a full cohort through one of the bootcamps, or support Y2L's work generally across all six programmes. Each option gives a clear, specific outcome to report back on: a club running for a term, a bootcamp cohort graduating, a mentor trained, rather than an open-ended donation.
